Well Made in Canada was born to provide a real, honest, and transparent directory of truly Canadian brands – making products in Canada and owned in Canada – to encourage Canadian consumers, retailers, and media to discover, support, and shop Canadian-made brands.

How was it born?

I’ve been a Canadian entrepreneur for 27 years. I built out this site in a frenzy on the Friday afternoon of January 31, 2025, as I finally came to terms with the fact that tariffs were indeed going to hit my business and the businesses of so many people I admire and respect. With the US as (most of) our largest trading partner(s), that revenue hit wasn’t going to be insignificant. I started googling Canadian made brands and found a lot of paid sites, but nothing that I felt like, as a consumer, I would use as a source for discovery or for making shopping decisions.

So I made it. And it wasn’t perfect (ahem, it’s a work in progress) so I started to enlist the help of the smart, talented people in my network to make it better. And we’re going to keep making it better as we build our national voice.

This is a collective action, born of Canadian brand and business owners and amplified by Canadian talent in creative, digital, marketing and public relations fields.

This is not an affiliate site. There is no advertising available. It is not pay to play. No money is changing hands.

It is the real deal, and it is Well Made in Canada.

Brand Qualifications

Why do we ask for self-declaration of Canadian production and Canadian ownership? Because it’s our goal to create a truly transparent directory of Canadian production and ownership. We rely on the integrity of the brand submission as a source of truth. If this is discovered to be inaccurate, your brand may be removed at our sole discretion.

So what are we listing in this directory? The following must be true:

• You create consumer goods in Canada.
• Your brand is 25%+ Canadian owned.
• Your brand creates 25%+ of its SKU portfolio in Canada.

This site is intended to showcase Canadian consumer goods for ease of discovery by Canadian consumers, retailers, and media. We will not include services or technology products on this site at this time.
